Christmas Carmen

For Nina, my hairdresser, who threatened me with the clippers if she didn't get a tea cosie for Christmas. (I think this is my third Carmen. Ever popular, this one.)

look what arrived in the mail yesterday...

YIPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Just in time for our sweltering Christmas. I didn't get to open them 'til today. I can spend the next few days with these at the hospital visiting my be-stroked dad. Now, what to make...

Cribbie

Cast left to right: Louise, Sandro, Kevin and me. Which is why I've done very little knitting. But I'm making up for it now. 3 beanies, 1 pair of socks, 3 christmas baubles. And sewing - 5 bags, 20 cushions (well I know what I'M giving for presents this year) and flags made of leftover scraps of stuff.

One of the reasons November is hell....

This place is what used to be Cribb Island. It's now under the tarmac of the Brisbane airport. All that's left is the foundation of the old bathing box. "Qantas pilots turn right when they see that". That's Louise and Sandro. I'm in a show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diva rug under construction...

aka "The Fire Blanket"
What a lovely way to spend a weekend. I wish I could have been there. I was right - November IS hell, but in a good way.

I've finally figured out what to do with left over sock yarn. Baby beanies, of course! And cowls. Soooooooo easy. I'm going to need easy things - November is looking like HELL!

Miss Bib has been hassling me for months to make her friend one of these bags. So I started with the purple-ish one, but of course couldn't stop at just one. In fact I only stopped when the rain started and I had to move the sewing machine inside ('cos the only table we have is on the deck.) And then of course I had to make my way over to Reverse Garbage to see what they had - lots and lots of new fabric samples - yummmmmmmm!! Which means lots and lots of home made Christmas presents.

And I had a brief spring cleaning moment in E's room and almost gave this one away. But I decided it fits me instead.

jacarandas

Lots of purples. I used the first of my N. Z. wool for the simplest of mitts.

Our jacaranda is so big, it's a bit of a landmark in our suburb. People say - oh that's YOUR house! Yes it is.
